3.2. Existing Models and Techniques for Emotion Recognition
This section attempts to survey the major existing machine learning models and techniques used for emotion recognition task, ranging from traditional algorithms to advanced deep learning architectures. While not exhaustive, the reviewed papers cover a range of datasets beyond DREAMER, as well as diverse signal types, all focused on the task of emotion classification and recognition. Understanding these established models provides a foundation for understanding effective approaches and leveraging cross-dataset knowledge.
The following Table 2.2 gives an overview of these models which provides structure and rules for learning patterns from data.
